1936 General Motors Caravan of Progress – The First “Futurliners” : After General Motors’ successes at the 1933 and 1934 Century of Progress International Expositions, GM sought a way to bring some of their exhibits from the fair to those who were unable to travel to Chicago and thus promote the brand. Soon the Parade of Progress, as it came to be called Designed by Harley Earl’s Art and Colour Section was on the road. See and learn all about them @ http://theoldmotor.com/?p=113283

  3. That one in the photo?..about 7-9 miles to the gallon..lol. They were built with thick iron. But you can buy one nowadays that's much lighter,..even a small pull along camper would do, and you and Sean could stay the weekend in it, without spending a fortune in hotel expenses. You only have to have a truck with a strong transmission to pull a camper. A friend of mine got one of those that Pres Bush had sent to New Orleans for the hurricane relief, and got it for a low, low price. And there are still some for sale. You may want to look that up on the net. His has an abundance of room, with everything you need, and with lots of room for your art tents and supplies. :-)
