Here is a 1924 HK Porter saddle tank engine being prepared for winter storage.  This is the start of the process to get it ready to be put away for winter. It was the morning after the last run of the season and it was a bit chilly which made for good steam as the boiler was drained. It was not under any pressure, but it still held alot of heat from running the day before. There is alot of work to get an engine ready to sleep for the winter, especially up north where the winter temperatures are typically below 0 F much of the winter.  This engine is at the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion.  Posted for #steamysunday  curated by Paul Pavlinovich and Shelly Gunderson SteamySunday  #railroad   #railroadphoto
